Family Feature Spotlight: Joy

A Girl Full of 
Gifts and Talents! 

She writes, creates homemade gifts for special friends, and uses her skills to write the most thoughtful cards for those she holds dear. Some of my most cherished cards have come from this big-hearted Lady... her thanks for meals makes every evening that much more brighter. 


This young woman aims high and doesn't like poor results; she will stay up all night, literally, to meet her goals if she deems the need. (And then she may sleep all day... but that's ok because her dream is live on the other side of the world and then her "waking hours" would be when the sun is shining! Lol.)


Joy is truly a JOY to be around. She loves one-on-one "dates" and will ask you thoughtful questions before you even have a chance to take a breathe. She carefully plans her time with others and it usually includes some laughing! Our beautiful Young Woman enjoys learning different languages... and has already worked on learning bits of Korean, Chinese... and now she's thinking about French so she can communicate with her slightly older sis.


Joy is stretching her wings wider as she's now driving solo to work and school, on occasion... learning to balance home-school-work responsibilities and still keep a smile on her face and peace in her heart. She likes freedom, can't wait to travel the world, but still loves the comforts of routine, and our big family safety net. (To be a fly-on-the-wall in our house... Jake and I laugh at the memories we'll share one day!)


I'm really excited to see "where" you'll fly, Joy! You have so many adventures to take, places to see, new foods to taste... all things you love... but one of the dearest to me is to watch your heart wake up to the loveliness of WHO YOU REALLY ARE-- unique BE-YOU-ti-FULL YOU, not like any other human on planet earth and altogether incredible. Your Creator made a WONDERFUL work of art with YOU, Gorgeous Girl. I love you, Joy. I'm so glad I get to call you my Bonus Daughter.

I've been pondering God's faithfulness lately; He's so gracious to us. He wants to use us when we don't have everything together. Surrendering, Again, to God's Faithful Love

Fully Devoted: Surrendering in seasons of sacrifice  to God's Faithful Love. Sometimes when life get's hard we need to surrender our heart's intentions again... to His Faithful Love. We can recognize God is fully devoted to us, that Jesus paid the bill with His precious blood, that we're temples of the Holy Spirit... but if we're not fully surrendered to letting Him heal the hurting places as we go through challenging seasons we can lose touch with His love. He wants to touch our hearts, not just our minds. The past couple of months I've been reflecting on God's faithfulness to me through one of the most accelerated seasons of growth I've ever been thrust into. In one year's time I become a first time wife and automatic bonus mom to six children (then 2nd thru 6th grade), after leaving everything familiar to move to western Kansas... and one week after our first anniversary I birthed our daughter!
